Hydrothermal Synthesis and Annealing Effect on the Properties of Gas-Sensitive Copper Oxide Nanowires

In this study, we report a straightforward and reproducible hydrothermal synthesis of copper oxide nanowires, their morphological chemical characterization, application in gas sensing. Results show that the process is mainly influenced by reaction time concentration reducing agent, demonstrating fine long nanowires (diameter 50–200 nm length 25 µm) after 10 h with 0.1 M pyrrole. Two different annealing temperatures were tested (205 450 °C) effect on morphology, composition, crystal size was analyzed SEM, XPS, XRD techniques, respectively. The analysis shows Cu2+ oxidation state obtained at higher temperature, nanowires’ shape suffers transformation due to formation agglomerated crystallites. sensing tests for acetone, ethanol, toluene, carbon monoxide preferential response sensitivity acetone ethanol over other analytes. temperature proves have influence stability than selectivity, showing better medium-term annealed °C.
